Komparator4 - no files shown

I installed Komparator4 1.0-3 synch tool on a 64bit system. It starts up properly. After choosing directories to compare, there are no files, directories displayed in the 'duplicate files', 'missing files' or 'newer files' window. Never mind, which directories I selected.
I tried on an ubuntu 17.10 desktop and ubuntu 16.04 laptop as well - same result.

Any ideas how to solve this issue?

It sounds like the program is missing things that are part of the API:-

Try removing it and than installing it from the Software Centre.

If that fails try installing from the tar.bz and writing to the aurthor, Daniel Martins <danfmartins [AT] gmail.com>

Seems Komparator4 is for an earlier version of KDE 4 :
... Is available for Ubuntu 10.04 .. 13.10

Yes, obviously it's not working on 16.04 or later. As someone told me it was designed for KDE4.
If so, it shouldn't be offered for installation by the software centre...
