knoppixV7 - blank screen

Knoppix V5 installs properly on my hp d530, but V7 finishes the install with a blank screen. I believe the icons are there; when I click on the appropriate screen positions, the dvd drive responds. Is this PC too old to accept Knoppix V7, but not V5? Is this an inappropriate question for this forum?

It's not an inappropriate question, you just don't post enough information for someone to accurately answer it. In all likelihood, the HP d530 you have was not likely the only one HP made/sold and they probably sold the same model for years? Post some info on the hardware, cpu, RAM, graphics and approximately when you bought it.

Win 98 hey? turn of the century(20th)
How did the CD OS workout? (it works on my 2003 box - Dell)
You'd better have a new HDD or I'm not going to reply.

7.2 is slow for older boxes so ...

I can use PClos 2013 version on my box

keep you knoppix 5X and try other smaller OS.
e.g. Slitaz

I don't install knoppix but I guess some folks do.

So you are saying that the V7 will boot to the live media but after you restart it you then get what seems to be a blank screen?? Any information on boot?

Might go to cheat codes and boot to failsafe mode and see if it starts.

Not sure where problem is. Usually you'd have to do checksum on iso to start. Might have to peek at drive from live cd and see what the drive looks like.
