Knoppix Newbie! Need Help
Hey guys, I'm in a Networking class at a local technology center and am in the midst of beginning Unix and Linux chapters. I'm very interested in working with Linux and Unix, and have so far only briefly worked with Fedora in the VMWare installed on our computers in class. My friend told me about Knoppix, which I burned a few minutes ago and successfully booted into. I noticed, however, that I had no internet connection. I have an 802.11b D-Link wireless router and the name of my network adapter is D-Link Air DWL-520 Wireless PCI Adapter(rev.E). My connection is fine in Windows, but Knoppix told me that it found no connected network cards (although it appeared in the startup information). What could the problem be? Thanks ahead of time for any info or tips!

Welcome to LQ.
Knoppix may not have a driver, you should be able to download one from: http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=357 You can find the revision number by running lspci |
EDIT: Oh bugger, too slow again :)
Anyway, it's possible you may have to configure it, even if the card was detected and a driver found - have a look in the K (start) menu - from memory the bit you want is somewhere in Knoppix -> Network card config. Cheers, mj |
