Knoppix display weirdness

Hi,

I'm running the 6.2 Knoppix Live CD on a Fujitsu Amilo laptop. If I boot up with the standard options (i.e. I just let it boot) then the display size is far too big for the screen. So, I boot up with the "knoppix screen=1024x768" boot options and the background fits the screen and I can see the task bar.

Unfortunately though, the mouse isn't using the same size screen. It can't get all the way to the right hand side, and the further away from the left it gets the less likely it is that the coords it's over (by my sight) actually correspond to what's displayed.

For example, I can easily click on the Menu button in the bottom left, but if I want to open a web browser using the quick button near the menu, then I have to keep the mouse somewhere to the left of the button in order to click it. It's as if the map that the mouse is using is smaller than the display setting. If I try to click the button normally by putting the mouse over the button then I'm actually clicking something to the right of that.

I've tried 800x600 option too, and the same thing happens but the effect is even worse, in that the screen displays at the right size (same size as 1024x768) but the mouse has even less room to use.

I've no idea why this is happening. Can anyone suggest some things I can try to remedy the situation? I'm using the terminal and keys for all I can, but I'd still like the option of using the mouse properly.

Any help is much appreciated.

To me it sounds like your monitor screen has been set to a widescreen, while your resolution on the XServer is well set to a standard, try loading it with one the following resolution instead of 1024x768:

852x480
1280x720
