Knoppix CDROM mounting problem

Hello people.

I have too many day readyng on forums and trying to fiure out WHY i cant mount my cd..

Well i decided i come here. i saw that my Knoppix is detecting my CDROM/BURNER/DVD PLAYER on /hdc so i try to mount it on /mnt/cdrom.
nothing. i ve done many things and doesnt work. here i put you my /etc/fstab. and a copy of error.

root@javb1:/home/javb# rm /dev/cdrom
rm: remove symbolic link `/dev/cdrom'? y

root@javb1:/home/javb# ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom

root@javb1:/home/javb# mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

/dev/cdrom: Input/output error
mount: mount point /mnt/cdrom is a symbolic link to nowhere
root@javb1:/home/javb# cat /etc/fstab
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/etc/fstab: filesystem table.
#
# filesystem mountpoint type options dump pass
/dev/hda1 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1

proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/fd0 /floppy vfat defaults,user,noauto,showexec,umask=022 0 0
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0
/dev/dvd /dvd iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0
/dev/cdaudio /cdaudio iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hda2 none swap defaults 0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1 ntfs noauto,users,exec,ro,umask=000 0 0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
root@javb1:/home/javb# rm /dev/cdrom (doing this again)
rm: remove symbolic link `/dev/cdrom'? y
root@javb1:/home/javb# ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom
root@javb1:/home/javb# mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
/dev/cdrom: Input/output error
mount: mount point /mnt/cdrom is a symbolic link to nowhere
root@javb1:/home/javb# ls /mnt/cdrom
/mnt/cdrom
root@javb1:/home/javb# ls /mnt/cdrom
/mnt/cdrom
root@javb1:/home/javb# cd /mnt/cdrom
bash: cd: /mnt/cdrom: No such file or directory (seem doesnt exist)

root@javb1:/home/javb# cd /mnt
root@javb1:/mnt# ls
auto cdaudio cdrom dvd floppy hda1 hdb1 sysfs test usbdevfs (cdrom and floppy has sky blue corlor)

root@javb1:/mnt# mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/dvd (trying other things)
/dev/cdrom: Input/output error
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
root@javb1:/mnt# mount -t iso9660 -r /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom

mount: mount point /mnt/cdrom is a symbolic link to nowhere

root@javb1:/mnt# mount -t iso9660 -r /dev/hdc /mnt/dvd

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc,
or too many mounted file systems
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
root@javb1:/mnt#

How about deleting /mnt/cdrom, then doing mkdir /mnt/cdrom and then retrying the mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom?
