Knoppix 6.7 boots but reboots almost immediately when it tries to load

Just burned bootable dvd of knoppix 6.7 (English). It starts to load but when it gets to "udev" it restarts and continues thusly in an endless loop. I've tried loading default kernel, "knoppix64" and "noapic". Can someone help me get knoppix to boot on my rig which is an HP pavilion with windows 7 factory loaded on it? Thank you!

Ideas in no order.

Boot to failsafe option.

Run memetest.

Load on a virtual machine like vmplayer or virtualbox and see if you can boot the iso.

Did you test the download?

Some laptops are pretty odd. Laptops on general are more difficult to boot a live cd too. Try some other distro's.

Did this laptop ever boot a live cd?

Did you burn it at the very slowest speed?

jefro, thank you for the response. I actually have an HP pavilion p6787 c-b desktop. I did a checksum on the iso download and verified the dvd after burning it. My computer has not booted a live disc before but I have not tried any others. I will try an older version of knoppix. I'll also try to boot to failsafe option. Thank you for the suggestions.

Oh, I think the failsafe will work. Dunno why I thought it was a laptop.

I think to get it to work close to normal you need a few options. One is like no smp or such. (as in no support for dual processors) Might be one or two other boot options needed.
