Knoppix 3.1 - Modem Setup

I am hoping to use Knoppix 3.1 for my initial Linux education. I figure no matter how badly I screw-up, I can reboot the CD and start over.

Problem is with kppp/modem setup. Knoppix appears to be limited to /dev/tty S0 to S3 [Comm 1 to 4]. My modem USR 5610B installed itself on Comm 5.

My "real" Linux Mdk 9.0 works "just fine" with modem on Comm 5, so I don't want to mess with that.

My question is, how can I reconfigure Knoppix so that it will work with modem on Comm 5 ??

FYI - My Mandrake "skills" are limited to printing a document, playing a CD and surfing the 'net. I still have no idea how to add a program, reconfigure my desktop or compile a kernel. I still have A LOT to learn !!
