KMix muted, sound still happens?

Is this right? does mute not really mean mute??

It was never really an issue till a few moments ago, someone had emailed a link to a wmv, clicked it, opened a new tab in mozilla and loaded and started playing. Nothing unusual here, except that the sound was on full blast, even though KMix says muted, and the slider is at 35%... what else is that I couldn't turn it down like I normally do, with the volume up/down buttons on the keyboard, which are setup to work, and till just now have...

They are working again, I currently have a CD playing in KsCD, controlling the volume with hotkeys, and KMix thinking its got things muted...

Make sure you are using the alsa mixers in kmix (not oss). If in doubt, use alsamixer.
