Hi all,
I had a major crash this morning whilst browsing the internet-
for some reason Konqueror locked up my pc and I had to
switch if off via the off button (yes, I know this is a "bad thing",
but I had no choice).
Anyway, when Linux rebooted, I found that Kmail had lost all
my personal settings, (the obes stored under network in
settings, such as email address, password, email server etc.).
Everytime I close Kmail down, I lose these settings again!
What is amiss? Has anyone else had this problem? I've been
happily easing Kmail/Konqueror etc. for months now and
this is the only bad thing that has happened.
By the way, I am running SuSE 7.3, and the version of
KDE (2.2.1) and KMail (1.3.1) that came as standard with it
Running kmail from an xterm produces no error messages - at least none displayed (btw, which log files should I be checking - sorry for such a stupid question, I really am new to this!)
Also, I cd'ed to the directory you specified, but when I got to
.kde/share, I couldn't find the apps directory!
Hello again,
I found the kmail directory under .kde2 and renamed it (in case I need to restore it later on!)...but I still get the same problem: kmail loses my settings when I close it down! Help!
I've had a look in /var/log/messages and I can't seem to find anything amiss. I tried providing my settings at a certain time this afternoon, closed down kmail, and fired it up again (yep, my settings had gone!) I had a look in the logs to see if there was anything amiss when I provided my settings, but nothing was obvious! Arggh!
