I have instaled mepis and have been slowly working my way over from windows over the last couple of weeks. But i cant get kmail to recieve it will send though. I get a error message cant contact server. My settings are cut and pasted from my isp website on how to set up pop mail. please help this is very frustrating.

Check the obvious first of course, Server type correct, (most likely POP3). Correct server name? Your username and PW. Also check under [Receiving >> Modify >> Extras] for correct Authentication method and Encryption...

yes all correct. have done this many times in windows both at home and work. just cant seem to figure it out.

Well, if it is not a server problem on their end, it's most likely a configuration issue. Try removing the account and re-enter a new one rather then attempting to modify the existing. Most likely if it (kmail) is telling you it cannot contact the server then would be a server name problem since it has not gotten to authentication yet.
