Keystroke issue??

Ok so here's another problem I'm having with Fedora Core. I am still attempting to troubleshoot the internet connectivity issues.

But when I go to the Terminal on the desktop and attempt to type commands, one key stroke sometimes yield 20 characters of the same kind...for example - if i want to type df -h, it will yield dfffffffffffffffffffffff -hhhhhhhhh...this happens on several user accounts that I've created.

Then when I close the terminal, I cannot click on anything on the screen and as a result, I have to hold the power button down to turn the computer off and back on again.

At first I thought it was the keyboard but it doesn't occur when I first turn the computer on and have to type in the log in credentials.

Any ideas? Should I just try another keyboard? :(

I don't wanna give up but all these issues....... :(

Make sure your auto-repeat setting are sane. There should be an adjustable delay before it starts repeating and an adjustable repeat rate. You could even turn auto-repeat off completely until you have this problem sovled.

This is why I fear it might not be an auto-repeat problem, but my above suggestion is worth checking out anyway. Do you know about virtual terminals (Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F2, etc)? When your GUI freezes you might see if you can get still get to a virutal terminal to either shut your computer down sanely, or possibly kill the GUI, troubleshoot, etc. Also, depending up the X Window settings and what exactly has gone wrong, you might be able to restart the GUI with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.
