Keyboard Lockup problem either SuSe problem, or hardware???? Help!!!!!

I am, obviously, fairly new to linux and have been recently having a problem with my keyboard locking up. I customized an MSI notebook and have been using this machine since January or so. The distro I am using is SuSE 10.0 running on a 2.6 kernel. A few days ago I left the house, came back and KDE was up and running completely fine, except that my keyboard was not responding whatsoever. The mouse was fine and all applications ran smoothly, but in no application or shell would my keyboard respond. It tends to happen more often when I leave the computer for a little while, but has also occurred during use. I have been getting no support for my machine or the software, and have been stuck. If anyone can help me with this problem, or at least guide me in some sort of direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Please help soon if possible.

sounds like a software program, not sure how you do it in suse, but in debian you can run a reconfigure program to choose your keyboard driver. Could also be a controller problem with your board though. Have you tried another keyboard? Of the same type?

I appologize... it is the keyboard on my laptop. I haven't tried any usb keyboards, or any other external keyboards. i went into sax2, but it didnt really have anything there of any interest. Are there any files or other data that would be of any use to a linux guru in order to give a better description of the problem?

I'm not sure where you could look(I use Debian), but I'm sure that there is a config program you can run to choose what keyboard driver you are using. Sorry, but that's all the help I can give(I'm new to linux too).

Well, still no luck figuring this thing out. By the way I do appreciate your prompt responses, DanTaylor.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please post here. I would be extremely grateful.
