keyboard/language problems - redhat 8.0
I seem to have a problem with the '-' character as it is being replaced by
'â' . /etc/sysconfig/keyboard : KEYBOARDTYPE="pc" KEYTABLE="uk" seems to be correctly set to uk. I don't know where else to go and look for this mysterious behaviour... anyone able to shed some light? Thx |
All that I can think of is that something is wrong with your
lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/uk.kmap.gz Doublay-vay check that to see if it's incorrectly set. (info) |
more detail...
The problem only happens in these circumstances:
when I login through putty, and only when I'm looking at the man pages. Otherwise '-' sign is fine. example: root tty3 - 17May03 12days 0.03s 0.03s -bash root pts/0 taurex 5:30am 17:18 0.04s 0.04s -bash root pts/1 taurex 6:36am 0.00s 0.04s 0.00s w but all the man pages look like this: man(1) man(1) NAME man â format and display the onâline manual pages manpath â determine userâs search path for man pages SYNOPSIS man [âacdfFhkKtwW] [ââpath] [âm system] [âp string] [âC config_file] [âM pathlist] [âP pager] [âS section_list] [section] name ... ??????????? very puzzled |
