Keyboard language problem
 
This is a new one for me. I was recently forced to do a fresh re-install of my RedHat-based system due to problems with my new monitor. That problem was solved, but now when I move into console mode, run level 3, the system reads the keyboard in a different language than in the default run level 5. In 5, it reads dvorak, which is how I type. In 3, it reads qwerty, in spite of my having a dvorak keyboard. This is slowing me down considerably. Can this be fixed?

You need to edit the file /etc/sysconfig/keyboard and change the KEYTABLE to dvorak

Hi,
check for 'Option "XkbLayout"' in /etc/X11/xonrg.conf. note down the layout and edit file /etc/sysconfig/keyboard and change the corresponding layout in that file and then restart.
