I am using Xfce 4.12 and my keyboard and touchpad right click gets stuck all of sudden, but the left-click and tapping on the touchpad works fine.
After I logout and login again the problem disappears.
This happened several times. I have gone through /var/log/Xorg.0.log file and also the Xorg.0.log.old file and also possible through the kernel log file. But I didn't find any errors there.
I am using Dell Inspiron laptop. In Xorg.0.log file, there is an input device called Dell WMI Hotkeys. I suspect if there is some problem with it.
I am using Linux Mint 18 Xfce.
When I've gone through Input Methods dialog, there are several components like IBus, Fcitx, SCIM, UIM, gcin where none of them are installed. Do I need to install them? Is there a problem by not installing them?

This may not be helpful for you, but I've had similar problems a couple of times over the years, and each time it turned out to be a hardware fault. The last time it was an external keyboard and I eventually discovered that the cable was damaged, causing an intermittent dropout.
I'll try working it out on live USB but I cannot ascertain anything of it. Because, it is uncertain completely when the keyboard is getting stuck.
Also, I cannot install multiple OS on my Laptop (bloating it up), which I never do.
The best bet is to troubleshoot using a Live USB. Any other suggestions?
Update: Now recently, the keyboard and touchpad tap both got stuck.
Also, when I open the whisker menu (application launcher in Xfce). The text box (search box) did not get focus.
I plugged in an Optical mouse when it got stuck. Left click events are handled. But the right click event on the mouse is not handled.
So, I can make sure that it is not a problem of the Hardware. In the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file, there is no change whatsoever as in the above pasted link.
I suspect that there is some problem with evdev (an input driver). I also suspect that there is also something called synaptics which if I am right is also a driver. I think both these drivers are conflicting with each other. Anyways, I don't know if this was right. But I would like to make sure that someone here review the above Xorg.0.log file and tell me what the problem could be, if I am right.
In the meanwhile, I will check if there is something called as Synaptic which came with Linux Mint 18 Xfce, using a Live USB.
If any one is using Ubuntu or similar distro, could you check whether you have both evdev and synaptics? using your package manager or Xorg.0.log file (if using Xfce)?

Thanks for the reply. Not a hardware problem, here (atleast seems to be). See the above post.
Update: Here is the Xorg.0.log file of Mint Live USB. I didn't experience any keyboard getting stuck problems while booting from Live USB (without installing).
However, as a safe means I saved the Xorg.0.log file of the Live USB mint and it is here
I didn't note any differences between my Xorg.0.log file and this log file. But the problem could have been somewhere.
Both of them are having evdev and synaptics, so both of them come with the default installation. Hence, it is not likely to be a problem.
What else could it be?
