Got bored this weekend after I got kmail to work ok.
So I decided its time to compile a kernel - for the first time.
After checking what options and modules I want in there I ran:
make dep clean bzImage
About halfway thru the compiling the monitor just crabs out on me!!
I dont know weather there are any errormsgs because the only way I can get the monitor back up is a reset.
This is just during compling not with the new kernel.
The monitor isnt the problem - its running fine for days without any
trouble at all.
Its a old kernel 2.4.10 on suse 7.3

2.4.10 was a bit unstable - the vm system was completely replaced in that version, resulting in a few stability problems during very intense copmuting cycles - like kernel compiling. you might want to try a more recent version if you keep having the same problem.
