kernel wont load
i recently downloaded linux 2.6.8.1, compiled, and installed it per the instructions (with module_init_tools installed) completely without incident, except something called grubby, which complained that it couldnt access my master hd, /dev/hda. all the files were in the correct places, and the bootloader scripts were updated properly. however, when i tried to boot my new kernel, it loaded, but never got around to decompressing. thinking that it was simply loading slowly, i walked off and watched tv. when i came back, it looked exactly the same as before. i can only conclude that i must have left out an important module or something when i did the build. if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. thanks.
