Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block (0,0)
 
Trying to install Ubuntu Studio 13 on old Windows Vista Computer (AMD 9950). Gen this message whether installing or trying to run without installing.

Any ideas, help, suggestions?

Did you first format your hard drive and install a Linux file system? (maybe Ubuntu's installation media can do that for you, I don't use it so I don't know).

If not, get yourself gparted on a live media and use it to create at least one partition of type Linux with a file system like e.g. ext4, before installing Ubuntu on it.
