(Solved) Kernel Panic in Sam 2007

Hi.

I'm trying to set up my computer to triple boot with Mepis, Puppy and Sam 2007.

Using Grub that came with Puppy, I have got Mepis and Puppy to work, however Sam starts but crashes with a kernel panic, trying to kill INIT message. Any ideas on what the problem might be??

Thanks

More info would be good!
What is the output of fdisk -l
What does your grub.conf or menu.lst look like?

More information

Hi.

Fdisk -l lists the partition structure of the hard drive, being:

hda1 - Mepis
hda2 - Sam
hda3 - swap
hda4 - extended
hda5 - puppy
hda6 - data

I can get more information if needed.

This is the grub.conf file from Puppy.

# GRUB configuration file '/boot/grub/menu.lst'.
# generated by 'grubconfig'. Sun Apr 1 01:18:23 2007

# The backup copy of the MBR for drive '/dev/hda' is

Solved

Hi.

I have solved this by reinstalling SAM. Works well now.

Thanks anyway

For your future reference, you could have solved the problem by fixing these two lines in the Sam boot section of the grub file:

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18.6.tex1.lgc root=/dev/hda2 ro vga=normal
initrd /initrd-2.6.18.6.tex1.lgc.img

Should have read:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18.6.tex1.lgc root=/dev/hda2 ro vga=normal
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18.6.tex1.lgc.img
