kernel not compatible,,,need to work on programs of kernel-2-2.4
hi im very new to linux,,,,just installed opensuse free version on my machine,,,its a dual boot with windows xp,,,im studying about linux drivers,,the programs given in my book refer to kernel versions 2.0 - 2.4,,and i guess mine is more,,,wat shud i do,,how can i install my small version 2.4 kernel??,,,plz help

I can't see the relation with LFS in this thread ... So I'll give the minimal answer (for more information, just post in the right place)
If you can't install an "old" kernel from YaST, just get the sources and build your own !

To do something from scratch is to start from the very beginning like learning a language from scratch. Looks like an honest mistake to me, we do get posts that belong in Linux - Newbie here occasionally due to the mix up.
ace, Linux From Scratch is a manual that describes a method to build your own operating system from source code. I have asked mods to move this to the Newbie forum.
