Kernel - need to restore files from CD
Hey guys,
Sorry for the not too helpfull subject, but could not find the right words. :-? Is it possible to restore from the install CD the usr/src/linux-2.4.22 and usr/src/linux directories. I was folling around trying to install the new Kernel for SATA support 2.4.22.ac4, and I think I may have screwed up several things, when I do a "make bzImage" i get: make: *** [init/main.o] Error 1 but nothing else helpful make dep ran OK make clean ran OK too I hope there is a way to restore these files but cannot seem to find them. thanks for your help, Sebastien Forum hypospadias en francais: sebportail.com/forum |
Hello,
Sorry I forgot to mention de Distro - its Slackware 9.1 It seems /usr/src/linux and /usr/src/linux-2.4.22 are the same, am I wrong? Well it seems I have located the files on the second CD, but they are all gz, I know this is a compression format, I am just unfamiliar with it, but will do some research on that. If you know a quick way to uncompress the kernel directory [cdrom]live/lib/modules/2.4.22 to the /usr/src/linux-2.4.22 let me know. |
Hello,
Me again, since I am a newbee I guess I can make stupid mistakes right? it turns out /usr/src/linux is just a link to /usr/src/linux-2.4.22. Sorry :) Someone told me that you can delete the /usr/src/linux-2.4.22 dir and resinstall the Kernel Source pack from the Cd which will recreate that directory. So I will try that, thanks for listeningm :) |
