Kernel Connudrum

Is it possible after recompiling a new kernel or applying a patch to a kernel, to apply the changes without rebooting the system every time I make a change to it and recompile?

I normally experiment between the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels making changes and I am trying to find a way to do that without annoying everyone with the post beep every time I redo another kernel. :(

Not that i know of, the kernel IS linux so inorder to see the changed u have to reboot.
Or you could unplug the speaker ;-)

Understood. It is on a portable so there is no real way to 'unplug' the speaker without completely dismantling the system.
