Question kernel compilation for separate machine

I'm feeling quite proud, as I just started out using Linux in September and now have Linux on all my machines....

Including my old laptop acting as my gateway/firewall/web server/ftp server. And it has no room left to bunzip2 kernel 2.6.5

So I was wondering if it would be possible to compile a kernel on my P4 RedHat machine to stick on my Pentium-MMX Slackware machine. I'm at school right now, so it's hard to give a test run.

I'd really appreciate anybody's input!

sure, just compile it for the hardware on that other machine. you just need a way to move it from one to the other. Also, you'll need the sources for it too, so it can build the modules and such.
