kernel boot time error


hi all,

i have
downloaded kernel version 2.6.24.7.
unzip to /usr/src/
copy patch file (which i have created ) in /usr/src.
cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.24.7
sudo patch -p1 < ../patchfile-2.6.24.7
sudo make menuconfig
sudo make
make
make-kpkg --initrd kernal-image(this command created one .deb file)
dpkg -i name of debinan file created above(this command completed successfully and this update grub entry also.)


but when i boot kernal 2.6.24.7, this is giving this error:


mount: mounting /dev/disk/by-uuid/c3c4608e-fb99-4989-bfe2-ede4aec72b38 on /root
failed: Invalid argument
mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting / sys/ on root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or dirctory
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.
No init found. Try passing init= boot arg

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.10.2.2ubuntu7) built-in shell (ash)

(initramfs)


I have no idea what may have happened

plz help to fix this.......

I would say looking at that, your initrd doesn't support by-uuid. But I don't use the Debian build tools, and I don't use initrd either
