Kernel boot problem

I have recompiled 2.6.10 kernel on my debian box without any problems, than added it to grub. When I try to boot it, it says than "can't find bla bla bla .dep file in /lib/modules/2.6.10/modules.dep" and hangs for a moment and finally let me logon.
So, my question is, how can I make such file ?

tnx in advice.
