kernel 2.4.20 to 2.4.24 compilation
 

hi! I have installed SUSE linux 8.2 which runs 2.4.20 kernel. I am pretty new to upgrading or compiling the kernel. I have downloaded the kernel 2.4.24. I followed instructions given by a lot of websites for example digitalhermit.com. They have a very good step by step instruction by somewhere somehow I cant get to make the new kernel work. It gives me a kernel panic when I try to run the new kernel. There seems to be a lot of writeup for Redhat rather than SUSE LINUX!!!!.
and also GRUB boot loader. What do i do and where do I get this help from?????

I think your problem is also about suse booting via initrd...
