Kernal Editing Install
Hm...I got a problem, I'm trying to install the NVIDIA Linux Drivers. Everything goes well, untill it asks me for the Kernal header...I try to install it the Kernal Development package (if that's the right one), but it asks me for:
krbr5-libs = 1.2.7-10 Required by krb5-devel...And: openssl = 0.9.7a-2 Required by openssl-devel. Anyone know of a solution, plz plz plz help me. I want to intall the drivers so my comp. would stop freezing....Thnx anywayz |
You need the kernel source packages instead. Which distro do you use, and how did you install it?

I am using RedHat Linux 9.0 with the full updates installed. I install the package for personal use only (not workstation or Server)....How would I install the source for the kernal?

If your RedHat installer doesnt have a 'search in package names' option, try looking in the development section of packages. A RedHat user would be more help to you, I've only used Mandrake9

there should a way in the up2date utility to install the latest kernel and kernel source. If u cant do it from there, u will have to download and install it by hand. The package you will need if your current kernel is the 18.9 one is:
ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.red...0-18.9.src.rpm (u can find a closer mirror to yourself now you know the rpm name) |
