kenel panic not syncing: attempted to kill init after running fsck command
i have a mail server running fedora 8 and had problem when booting when it halted when strting postfix. somene told me to run fsck command and after that it is giving me this error when booting:
/sbin/init:error while loading shared libraries: libdl.SO.2: cannot open shared object file: input/output error kernel panic - not syncing : attempted to kill init |
Mostly you have a hard disk problem. Get a F8 DVD and boot to rescue mode. Enable network and backup as much data as you can. Use smartctl and see if your disk is fine. (smartctl -t long /dev/FailedDisk). Then, if things are fine, uninstall glibc and install it again.
(If I were you, I would have just backed up the data and reinstalled the server on a new hd) |
