Hi all,
After a power failure I get the login: prompt. If I login as root I can type KDM to load the desktop. KDM loads fine as long as the system sguts down properly. I'm trying to setup a system that will load KDM and my application program regardless of power failure or reset.

Seems to me like ur KDM is not getting correctly started if some init files do not get cleared. I would start investigating the script used to kick off kdm in /etc/init.d/ . Please look at the section of the FAQ: http://www.debian.org/doc/FAQ/ch-cus...html#s-booting
