Question KDEInit?

Hi all newbie alert i'm afraid!

I've just installed SUSE 9.1 after buying the pro version off of ebay. After installing the first CD it came up with an error saying that some packages couldn't be installed (one was KDEINIT), i clicked on continue and all seemed to be OK until the installation had finished and it starting booting xwindows. I'm now getting a can't access KDEINIT message box and it dumps me back into the console. Is there a way i can kdeinit from the console or should i do a complete new reinstall of suse (which i don't want to do!)

Thanks for your help

Are all of your vital KDE packs installed?

if not, you should try installing them or maybe install a different version-- doesn't sound very critical.. i really don't think you have to dump the whole install

I'm not sure since I don't think SUSE manages packages like Slackware, I could be wrong though. You'd probably have better luck in the SUSE form.

By the way, I think kdeinit launches KDE, the main package is called kdebase

kdeinit is used to execute kde programs..its part of the KdeBase package (or possibly KdeLibs)

either re-install KDE, or just reinstall KdeBase.

ive never used SuSE, so i dont know what tools are available to install / reinstall packages.
