KDE wont run

First. my problem. I am running the Suse 9.3 Enterprise server eval. Installed is KDE 3.2. I was messing around installing some software and I was required to install some libs., while in KDE. Some of these libnraries screwed up the GUI. I noticed some weird things happening to the way in which icons were being displayed. So I re-started the xserver. But it failed and now it will not start any GUI.

So I can assume whatever library I installed overwrote a requirement not just for KDE but for the X-server as well correct?

What logs should I look at to help determine my problem?

Any ideas on how to fix? I have another machine setup exactly the same. I was thinking I could just copy over the lib directories under /use and /opt/kde3 and that would fix it. Is this a waste of time?

Any ideas or tips? This is actually kind of a good thing as this will force me to learn Linux a little more, but I really dont know where to start though.

Sounds like that's what's happened.

/var/log/XFree86.0.log and ~/.xsession-errors

In the long run, this would probably cause more problems that it solves; you'd be better reinstalling all X-related packages through RPM first. Also, try running SaX2 (as root) to see if YaST can rescue your X server.
