KDE: Very Poor Fonts.

I am using Knoppix/KDE. Two applications have very poor fonts that I can't even read. They are Mozilla News and X-chat. What is the reason for this ? How can this be solved ?

If not, are there any other alternate programs that I can use for this ?

Thanks.

Vijay
