KDE to Gnome

I've installed linux about a year ago and set it to KDE. Now, I wish to change but don't know how, without re-instlling!

How do I switch from KDE to gnome?

I'm using Fedora ...I think 11, or 10.

THen simply typed in a terminal switchdesk gnome.

well, well, well, switch desktop didn't do the trick!

After restarting X-Windows, I'm still on KDE after choosing gnome! I do remember something of editing a uhmm... .bash file, or profile or something?

Any help?

You are using KDM I suppose? At the login screen choose gnome from "sessions".

If you're using a display manager such as kdm or gdm, then after installing different desktops, the display manager will give you a choice of which one to use when you first are logging in. Most distributions have meta-packages for installing desktop-environments; so, installing gnome should not be difficult. After it's installed, kdm should give you the option of choosing which environment you'd like to go into when first logging in.
