When you are KDE and you select an item from the menu, that option automatically shows up in the top section of the main menu as recent selections. How do I remove an entry from that section of the menu.

The entries shown at the top are, as you noticed, just the most recently invoked selections, and are not fixed, like bookmarks are. In other words, the list is dynamic, not static, so trying to edit it seems to not be worth the trouble (since those changes will not persist). If you felt strongly that you didn't want to see a particular entry, you could just launch other apps until the offending one fell off the list. -- J.W.

Thanks for the help. The problem is that we have an uninstall application that you can select from the menu. Our customer does not like the fact that when they run this uninstall, it shows up as a program you can select in this section of the menu along with all the apps that were just uninstalled. Clicking on them does nothing since they no longer exists. I was hoping I could programmically remove them during the uninstall so there would be no confusion.

I see. I don't know enough about the inner workings of KDE to comment on how and/or if it's possible to dynamically edit the "recent selection" list. Perhaps there is a setting you can configure that would control how many entries appear in that list, and you could simply set it to zero. (I'm on a Windows machine at the moment so I can't poke around my system to find out.) That would solve the problem for sure, but from the sounds of it, if your users get unhappy about being unable to run programs that they've already uninstalled, they'd probably start bitching if they could no longer see the uninstall entry. Go to KDE Control Center -LookNFeel-Panels. Click the "Menus" tab and go to the Quickstart Menu section. You can disable or configure the quickstart entries
