KDE sound system overrule

I need to play a MID file, but the KDE sound system blocks me from playing any sounds. I need to overrule the sound system without shutting it down. Is it possible???

there is a constant annoying problem with alsa and arts... my suggestion, and based on my experience, is to try to run one exclusively..
