KDE sound on desktop ??
 

How would I modify the startscript in /bin/statkde? So that I can hear the default sounds on my desktop.

What is the exact line i would use? Has to do wiht "kwmsound" I believe?

do you mean that you are not getting any sound at all at startup?
if so , make sure plug and play is turned to off in the bios.
otherwise sorry if im way off base and this didnt help whatsoever!

KDE starts "arts", it's own sndserver, at startup by default, so if you can't hear the welcome wav... you probably don't have audio available on you system (?).

Are you able to hear any sounds in your box? If you used to hear kde sounds before, then make sure that "Start Sound Server" (or something like that) is checked in Control Center/Sound.
