If you want EVERYONE's opinion, check the vote for dekstop environment at 2003 awards

If you want my opinion, they both suck, use fluxbox :D

Yeah check out the above link.
Buf if you want my opinion, KDE is for children and Gnome is for professionals.

huh? why should KDE be for children? kde looks somehow more clean to me. as well i like korganizer kpim and all this stuff... in gnome i just found evolution with seemed quite buggy and runs with his own installer...

Both KDE and GNOME are for children who don't know how to walk. Try fluxbox, or xfce and you'll be enlightened :).

sirphoenix 02-13-2004 02:08 AM

xfce is terrible. there is nothing comfortable in it. better than windows 3.1 though, but still too mininal. is there something similar to konqueror? i would miss this tool a lot. as well drag and drop.

I have to agree that KDE looks to toy-like and prettied up and it seems slow compared gnome

thewizard20 02-13-2004 04:40 PM

kde 3.2 is fast compared to gnome and xfce4 is very nice they just have to try each one to see what they like.

it depends on the version. If you're using old versions of RedHat (7.3 - 9.0), I prefer KDE. But in the case of Fedora Core, I recommend GNOME.
