KDE not working - Need QT libs...
Hi.
I was trying to install a more current version of qt so I could run k3b, but in doing the installation I lost my libqt-mt.so3 file (i think, cos I can't find it in any of the directories where I think it should be). Now, I can't open up or run kde and can't run on a desktop. When I try to boot, I get a message asking me for my username and password, and when I enter it I get the message: login: bash: 859: command not found When I try to run kde I get all kinds of errors... xsetroot: unable to open display '' xset: unable to open display "" xset: unable to open display "" xset: unable to open display "" xsplash: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so3: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory kdinit: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so3: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory //opt/kde3//bin/kinternet:error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so3: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory Warning: connect() failed: : connection refused ksmserver: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so3: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory Warning: connect() failed: : connection refused Error: Can't contact kdeinit! Any ideas pleeeeeezzzz! Thanks! |
you should know that the QT-lib is in the base of KDE so chanaging it affects the hole KDE distribution
I suggest you upgrade your KDE too next time think twice before secrificing a hole environment on behalf of program for this environment. I think you should have got those error messages while upgrading your K3B Anyway my personal opinion is that K3B is not worth compared to x-cdroast, you find out what libs are linked and where they whould be found with ldd and ldconfig -v regards |
when you upgrade QT, you should also update Quanta
|
I agree but what the hell do you need quanta for?
let's sumraize it when you upgrade qt, you should upgrade EVERYTHING that DEPENDS on QT! |
