KDE Kmix Crashing and Sound Issues
 

I just installed gentoo about a day ago and got my sound working but when im playing a mp3 or anysound kmix crashes with a signal 11. Also if im playing a mp3 with xmms and another sound wants to play like say a Instant message notification the mp3 stops. Can anyone help me with these two issues. Thanks

are you running kde ?
if so disable the soundserver in controll center and restaart
if you want to hear kde sounds set mplayer as player under system notifications player settings
use alsa output from apps like xmms

if that still gives troubles write back
or if asumption about you using kde is wrong

must say kmix crashing is a bit strange but there are better mixers
what type of soundcard are you using ?

Im using a Sound Blaster Live card. Im going to install the alsa drivers tomorrow. Ill report back.
