KDE installed in CentOS but refuses to start

I have used - yum groupinstall "KDE Desktop" -installing 99 packages that where "completed!".
However, I did not get any prompt for selecting KDE instead of Gnom, no GUI poped, remained on CentOS basic desktop screen.
Reboot did not help, and redownloading the KDE group was refused by report saying that the .rpm files are alreday installed.
What is wrong?

Try this http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-a-4175454877/, specifically posts #3 & 4.

Try yum install kde-core kde-plasma-desktop kde-full.

It sounds like you didn't get everything.

Thank you all

I am a newbie so your responses are really encouraging.
KDE is working now for me - need to get used to it.
What I did is - gedit /etc/sysconfig/desktop - adding:
DESKTOP="KDE"
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"
reboot
Got blue screen and chose on right side the KDE option.
Then logged in with my username & pw.
Question: How do I getback to the default CentOS desktop?

If you have more than one DE installed you should be able to choose your session type from the login screen.

Thank you very much.
What I would like yo know IS how to set up an automatic set after on rebooting of the desired DE (e.g. KDE)?
