kde help


well i got free bsd 5.2 and i login as root
so how do i get into kde grafics u mean like when it boots it going into kde insted of text blah

Or "startkde".

How is this system setup? e.g. did you install BSD and then kde?
Have you changed any configuration files?

FreeBSD does not install a window manager in the default install IIRC - you need to use ports or the package repository to install one(and perhaps an X server too...)

Take a look here for a solution on how to start KDM at boot time. You shouldn't really login to a desktop environment as the root user and thats why you have to create normal user accounts.

The advice given by reddazz is the best. And you just need to reboot or -HUP init to bring it up.
