OK. ill be honest I recently decided to use Linux as to use something new only because im getting sick and tired of my Windows XP never doing what I want (plain and simple IM HATING MICROSOFT AND WINDOWS IN GENERAL!) anyways. I recently installed Mandrake Linux 9.1 and everything went beutiful except for whenever I go to boot in and log into my user name in KDE 2.1.1. KDE dosnt boot up and show on my screen. Im able to log in but I can only log in the command screen. and i was wondering if anybody knew what to type to get KDE back up and runnning so i can use it. Otherwise im gonna install Lycoris Desktop LX instead.
To have it go straight to X-windows everytime you boot, edit your /etc/inittab file. You'll see a line there about defaults and there should be comment lines telling you what your choices are.
Or have I misunderstood? You said "get KDE back up". Was it working and suddenly stopped?

It never did work. I have a spare HDD where I install the OS's but each time I ever install it, no and when i mean NO KDE desktop ever boots up I tell you what, I sure am confused. It never did this whenever I preiously installed Lycoris Desktop LX or even before when i installed it :S
