KDE hangs at logout

Hello,

Every time I logout from KDE 3.3.2, system hangs.
Is there a log file to investigate where the problem comes from?

I am on Debian sarge with kernel 2.612-1-amd64

Any ideas?

Thanks

it's most likely some broken zombie thing kde can't kill
kde remembers apps that were running and restarts them
so if some bad proccesss went south and became living dead
when you start kde it gets resurected and then won't die (again) at logout.

easiest thing to do is disable the Restore previous session on login thing under
kde components -> session manager

then get out with Cntrl-Alt-Backspace
and restart and see if next time you logout everything is ok
later turn back on session restore if you want

I've tried that but it hangs anyway.

Is there a log or a way to activate a log file in order to see what gives that problem?

Thanks

it should be logging to the primary console Cntrl-Alt-F1
but that can be redirected like
startx 1>xout.txt 2>xerr.txt
or to one file like
startx 2>&1 1>xoutputfile.txt
or something lke that
lets see you got /var/log/XFree86.0.log or Xorg
some distributions are setup to generate a hidden file
~/.xsession-error
and there might be something in the kernel log from klogd
that might be someplace like
/var/log/sys.log or kern.log or daemon.log -- look at all the files there
