KDE Crashes and locks system at startup
Ok ok, very n00b here. Probably a typical n00b mistake, but... Here goes...
Installed Fedora, Core 2 I think... 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl Everything worked fine except KDE didn't recognize my ATI 9600se. I looked at the list of drivers and assumed that that 9600 would work fine. Well now anytime I try and start KDE, it gets to where it loads the modules and then locks. Mouse stops working, nothing registers. Things I've done (with very remedial knowledge): I set the start up access level 3, so I get a prompt instead of the KDE login screen. I tried kudzu, with no parameters. Just typed kudzu in bash. It didn't seem to do much. KDE still locked. Things I've had people suggest: Pull out the AGP card, let kudzu auto-detect the onboard video card. Then reboot with the AGP card back in and it should install the generic driver it initially had. I haven't done this yet. I like to learn new ways of doing things, and before going to this step I wanted to know if there was some other kind of syntax for kudzu or some other device manager I can use from bash to replace the file. Thanks for your help in advance! NeoShadow |
