KDE - commands to load snd at startup?
Hi there - wonder if anyone could help me with the following.
After weeks of trying to get the sound to work have finally got it, only to discover that when I have logged out and shut the computer down, then restarted it again, there was no sound. Is there a command to load the sound setup so that it stays installed, even when you start the computer again. Thanks for looking. |
What did you do to get sound working? What is the output of "lsmod", or even "lsmod | grep snd"?

Thanks for the reply.
sorry can't show the lsmod - lspci at the moment as they are on the laptop. Wonder if you know the command to keep the driver onboard. Think it's something like modprobe? or maybe something like that. If you really need the lsmod output then can get it. |
Configure ALSA
#alsaconf and, BLAM, everything just worked. Sure, it doesn't work for anyone but root, but that is easy enough to fix. Type: #chmod 666 /dev/dsp* #chmod 666 /dev/mixer* Then also as root #alsamixer Configure it. See that Master is not off by pressing -m- key esc when you're done #alsactl store Enjoy! And press thanks if it helped;) |
Thank you SlackerLX - you are an Angel and save the day.
Good luck and hope you have a Merry Christmas + HNY Best Wishes - J |
No Problem:D :D
Help me then by pressing -thanks- :o |
Have pressed the 'Thanks' button , but keep getting sent to a 'unsecure' page - i.e.
there is no lock in the corner of the window (the ssl page?) is the page which takes my details secure? |
