KDE 4.5.5 Device Notifier removable drive mounting error

I get the following error from KDE's Device Notifier when trying to mount a removable drive:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.10" (uid=1000 pid=2702 comm="kdeinit4: kded4 [kdeinit]) interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member="Mount" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="org.freedesktop.Hal" (uid=0 pid=2380 comm="/usr/sbin/hald))
It appears to be a permissions issue.
