KDE 3.4 local files problem

Hi there!
here is the problem...for example i want to send a file to a friend using kopete!
so i go to my partition where I have all my music and other stuffs(hda3) and choose the file then when i click open i got this message on a pop up windows:

Remote files not accepted: you can only select local files!

if I try to save an amarok playlist to the same hd3 partiton i got the same message!
I have installed gentoo on the hda4 partiton so it seems can only select files on my home created on this partition!
with kde 3.3 i didn't have this issue
Hope someone can help me!
Thanks in advance

hmmm did you try to move the file over to a diff area other than the partition it was stored on or did you make sure you was logged on as root?

I find alot of my problems when moving files and stuff is solved by changing user to root.

if i move the file to the other partiton where gentoo is installed(hda4) there is no problems! About the root....i do not feel using Kopete as root....but i have all permissions to acess to the partition hda3
the fact is that i use non kde app like gaim i can acess....that's why i'm wondering what's going on...
