KDE 3.2.2 (base tarball) Source Compile Problem

Okay, first I'd like to say hello to everyone, seems like a nice place here. :)

But anyway, I decided to take it upon myself a week or two back to install Slackware 9.1 and compile everything that I needed as I needed it. I finally got to XFree86 4.4.0, which installed successfully, and then I moved to KDE. I got the kdelibs package (and when I say package, I just mean the source tarball) compiled correctly after a few tries and many wasted hours, but kdebase is giving me headaches.

I'm getting an error from make that says (and I'll try to quote it as closely as I can, the problem is on a system with no Internet access), basically: no target defined for 'libkateinterfacesprivate.la'. needed by 'libkateinterfaces.la'. stop.

So, I can draw that this is a dependency error--it even says that file is needed in Kate's makefile--but I don't know where to go--I've hit Google with all I can think of, I've tried cleaning the source tree and reconfiguring, and even trying to compile kate in its native directory, rather than letting kdebase's do it for me.

Any ideas on where to head from here? All replies are appreciated. :)

Hrmm, I guess I found the solution on my own. Thanks anyway! :) I found out how, where, and why I needed to compile the dependencies in the source tree first to resolve the ones I was running into. Maybe using that flag I read about saying something like "don't skip the slow dependency checks" would help in the future...
