KDE 3.1 crushes 24/7

Hi,
I'm running kde3.1 on my SuSE 9.0 pro box. Can anybody tell my why KDE is crashing at least once every 30 minutes. I then have to logout and login again, or even reboot the system. Among the applications that crash the most are konqueror, kwin, and Yast.

I can not even send a bug report coz after the crash i cannot type, copy, paste Text.

I also have a very expensive and very slow dial-up(downloads @ 4kbps) so upgrade is out of the question.

Plz help!

Maybe due to graphic card driver?

Try gnome and see if it happens. If so, then the problem should be with X drivers for your card. (X is the layer "under" KDE.)

If the whole X was crashing, it could be because of the drivers, but since Kde apps crash it probably doesn't have nothing to do with the driver. However it can be a good idea to try different window manager to see if it works fine. Maybe something light if you don't wanna play with gnome.

Check X logs (something like X.0.log in /var/log/ directory) for messages from close the crash time. If an X-related error was recorded, it should be in that file.

Ive installed other window Manager including Gnome, and they all crushed. However I also installed SuSE 9.1 personal on the same harddisk and so far KDE 3.2 is very stable.

Can I use the 3.2KDE rpms from SuSE 9.1 personal to upgrade KDE3.1 on my SuSE 9.0 professional?

I think so. But it may require you to upgrade some more packages.
