kdar restore when missing slice

I made a very bad mistake...mislabeled first slice in an 8 CD-R dar archive. The first slice is the one that is gone. My subsequent backups are all diff and diff to the previous diff...I need to restore my /home directories, and I believe the data all exists within the archive (likely not even on the first slice), but I cannot open the archive since the first slice is missing. Are there any utilities (or services out there) that can open the slices to restore in a usable format? Yes, I have learned my lesson.

Dar (and I Kdar also) makes a database of files in an archive, including information on the slice the files are in. Did you include that database in the archive, or leave it on the computer?

If you still have the db on disk, you may be able to use dar-manager to querry that database to find the files you want.

The Dar tutorial explains how to use dar-manager. You may also have man pages for dar-manager.
